About The Position

Be an Advocate, A Caretaker and a Friend to Patients. Nursing Companion - Per Diem -Days At New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, nursing students thrive at the bedside as invaluable care providers. Together, we serve as critical points of contact for patients and their families. Join our team. Be a true partner with Nurses. Provide comfort and caring as a Nursing Companion at NYP. Provide compassionate patient focus and perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse. Assist with routine tasks including daily hygiene, bed making, and safety precautions. Build strong rapport with patients and families, and communicate your observations with RNs while maintaining patient privacy at all times. Infuse energy and hospitality into each patient's day. Prepare patients for mealtime, assist with transport, and report any patient concerns to your partners on the care-giving team. Demonstrate what it means to be part of a team and raise the bar for patient care. This is a per diem day flex nursing companion position

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates have completed at least one clinical rotation and one semester of a clinical assignment in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) .
  • At least one shift per week is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Current CPR Training from the American Heart Association required

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal candidates will be enrolled in a BSN program with an expected graduation of December 2026 or later and completed at least one clinical rotation
