About the position

The Nursing Clinical Instructor is responsible for supervising students in the day-to-day activities in their respective clinical courses. Nursing Clinical Instructors are employed on an as-needed semester-by-semester basis and are remunerated on the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College local Salary Schedule L at a rate of $30.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the student's socialization into the work group, including the physicians.
  • Demonstrates the mastery of technical nursing skills necessary in the performance of duties.
  • Act in an advisory capacity to students.
  • Assist the student identifying learning needs.
  • Assist in reviewing and recommending appropriate revision of curriculum periodically.
  • Maintain all records as needed.
  • Evaluates the student's learning performance.
  • Assist students with library, computer lab assignments.
  • Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty, and the college community.
  • Adhere to the prescribed policies of the college.
  • Assist College personnel in the recruitment of students.
  • Assist in enforcing all college policies.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Institutional Effectiveness Plan.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Ensure a safe environment for student learning.
  • Works with the student in planning for the most appropriate learning experience, and giving feedback as appropriate.
  • Participate in professional development through professional organizations, seminars, etc., to maintain and improve skills.
  • Maintain the appropriate professional licensures and/or certification.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • An active, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama or an unencumbered multistate license in the compact.
  • Minimum of two years of documented hospital medical surgical nursing clinical work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
