About The Position

The Nursing Assistant I position at Advocate Health involves providing essential support to registered nurses in the daily care of patients. This role requires working three 12-hour night shifts weekly, including every third weekend and three holidays per year. The position is located at Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh and is full-time, requiring 36 hours of work per week. The pay range for this position is between $20.40 and $30.60 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
  • Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
  • Measures and documents vital signs and other patient data in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations and needs of patient/family.
  • Participates in admission, transfer, and discharge processes under supervision of RN.
  • Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing.
  • Completes various errands including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports.
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties utilizing proper techniques.
  • Maintains skin integrity and ensures special patient supplies are provided.
  • May be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction.
  • Practices infection prevention policies and demonstrates hand hygiene.
