About The Position

The position is for a full-time role within the BayCare Leased Employees - Med Surg department, requiring 36 hours of work per week. The schedule includes mandatory night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with one weekend off per quarter. The pay range for this position is between $20.40 and $30.60 per hour. Major responsibilities include assisting registered nurses (RNs) with daily patient care, documenting vital signs and patient data, participating in the admission and discharge processes, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. The role also involves maintaining proper hygiene and skin integrity, collecting specimens, and coordinating tests and treatments with various departments. The position requires adherence to infection prevention policies and maintaining a positive customer relations environment.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
• Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
• Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communications.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to interruptions and changing priorities.
• High level of attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs, I & O, daily weights, and other patient data.
• Documents accurately in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN.
• Ensures patient call light is always in reach and answers call-lights promptly.
• Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations to RN.
• Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
• Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of the patient under direction of RN.
• Maintains skin integrity through proper repositioning and skin care.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing.
• Maintains competency as required.
• Coordinates tests and treatments with various departments.
• Maintains working knowledge of EHR system and other computer systems.
• Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedures.
• Facilitates communications required to support patient care.
• Establishes and maintains positive customer relations.
