About The Position

Spring Mountain Treatment Center is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Night Shift. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is the clinical staff member who has interaction with patients on a daily basis. They present good communication and observation skills as well as the ability to accurately process and document information. The CNA provides structure and safety to the milieu environment as directed by hospital and unit procedures and manages patient behavior effectively. The CNA instructs, assists, and supervises patients in activities of daily living and provides services that support nurses, teachers, activity therapists, and other departments in various activities. They present good communication skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have an active CNA license from the Nevada State Nursing Board.
  • B.S/B.A in behavioral health science preferred.
  • One year of experience in a psychiatric setting/patient care preferred.
  • Obtain BLS Basic Life Support certification.
  • Good communication skills, i.e., reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic PC knowledge and medical terminology.
  • Good leadership qualities which includes self-control, patience, and empathy.
  • New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
  • Must successfully pass background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check).

Nice To Haves

  • B.S/B.A in behavioral health science preferred.
  • One year of experience in a psychiatric setting/patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the well being of patients and provide a positive, supportive and structured environment, under direction of charge nurse or supervisor.
  • Complete patient observation rounds timely.
  • Assist with transferring, lifting raising or turning patients.
  • Obtain patient's vital signs and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Engage with patient in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
  • Monitor behavioral improvements and reinforce these behaviors.
  • Reinforce skills patients learn from nurses, physicians and therapists that promote improved physical and mental wellness.
  • Ensure comfort, dignity, privacy and perform related CNA duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, move patients or change linens.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required by this position.
