About The Position

At New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist, certified nursing assistants are invaluable care providers who thrive at the bedside. They serve as critical points of contact for patients and their families, partnering with Nurses, Technicians, and other staff. The role involves monitoring patient vitals, ensuring meal delivery, and safe transport, while infusing energy and hospitality into a patient's day. Certified nurse's aides provide comfort and compassionate patient focus, performing select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse to improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment. This position requires floating to various units within the hospital, such as Med-Surg, Critical Care, Psychiatry, and the Emergency Department. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification from an approved, accredited Nurse Assistant training program or current Enrollment in a BSN program & completion of at least 1 clinical rotation
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skill

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of experience as a nurse’s aide in a hospital

Responsibilities

  • Be an Advocate, a Care Taker, a Friend to Patients
  • Serve as critical points of contact for patients and their families

  • Measure and record temperatures, pulses, respiration and blood pressure
  • Demonstrate what it means to be part of a team and raise the bar for patient care
  • Float to all units-in the hospital such as Med-Surg, Critical Care, Psychiatry, Emergency Department or where needed
