About The Position
We are seeking a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nursing Assistant , also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele Nursing Assistant . The Med-Surg/Tele Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. They play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery. Requirements
- Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
- Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate or within 6 months of hire and maintain current
Nice To Haves
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physicians office
Responsibilities
- Basic patient care: help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating
- Vital signs monitoring: take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation
- Mobility assistance : help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices.
- EKG lead maintenance: e nsure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning — though Certified Nursing Assistant’s (CN A ’s) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nurses
- Observation: monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notifying the nursing staff
