About The Position

Description Job Function 01: Cleans Operating Rooms and sets up surgical equipment in the OR suite between cases in an efficient manner utilizing the approved infection prevention cleaning guide and manufacturer's IFU. Maintains standard precautions. Job Function 02: Maintains cleanliness and organization in the Operating Rooms, corridors, sub sterile area and equipment storage rooms. Job Function 03: Maintains cleanliness and organization of equipment that is stored within the department. Assist the surgical teams with retrieving and retuning equipment. Job Function 04: Assist in transferring the patient under the directions of the surgical team. Ensure patient safety by placing patient side rails up and locking the stretchers prior to and during transfer. Job Function 05: Follows policy and procedure regarding specimen and blood product handling. Job Function 06: Utilizes the surgical schedule and surgeon preference cards to prepare the Operating Room suite for each surgical procedure and notifies appropriate personnel of any potential issues or possible delays. Job Function 07: Restocks supplies in assigned areas of the department, reporting par level deficits to materials manager. Cleans and checks for outdates before restocking. Job Function 08: Maintains a safe environment of care in accordance with hospital policies and other regulatory agencies. Practices universal precautions. Demonstrates knowledge and practices departmental safety procedures including safe handling of equipment, isolation cleaning practices, and hazardous substances. Adheres to and demonstrates hospital, patient and/or personal safety procedures. Job Function 09: Responds promptly to requests and emergency situations. Communicates to charge nurse when unable to meet the needs of the unit. Demonstrates a commitment to teamwork, fostering positive working relationships. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of the unit, accepts assignments willingly. Job Function 10: Maintains patient confidentiality, reports compliance issues to appropriate personnel. Job Function 11: Actively participates in cost containment through effective use of supplies and resources. Other tasks which may be required: assignments that meet the needs of the department Job Function 12: Equipment Care: Maintains log of all equipment sent to Clinical Engineering for repair. Reports all lost or equipment unable to be repaired to charge nurse. Returns rental equipment in a timely manner with patient identification. Keeps equipment cleaned and charged. Notifies unit associate of equipment needing repair and attaches appropriate repair tag. Orients new staff in care of equipment. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required Certifications: BLS Certification Required Experience: Strong interpersonal communication skills - both verbal and written Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information system
