About The Position

9 North is a 32 Bed Medical floor caring for the adult and geriatric population, seeing a variety of medical conditions and disease processes including Cardiac, Neuro, Respiratory, Infectious Disease, and Psych. The unit has the capability to monitor 8 cardiac telemetry patients, and nurses care for patients with acute conditions and manage patient’s chronic conditions. 9 North is described as a phenomenal learning unit that encourages personal and professional growth and development. Dearborn Hospital, recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Top 10 Hospitals” in Michigan, is a major teaching and research hospital that has been advancing care since 1953. It is a Level II trauma center and has been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in the fields of orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart & vascular, and cancer care. The Nursing Assistant assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience Preferred
  • Current CNA certification Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice.
  • Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care.
  • Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care.
  • Facilitates the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
