About The Position

The Nursing Assistant position at Prisma Health, specifically within Medical Telemetry, is a full-time night shift role. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant is responsible for collecting patient status data, performing basic nursing procedures, ongoing data collection and documentation, assisting with treatments and procedures, and maintaining patient care equipment. This is a non-management role that reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Responsibilities

Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene.
Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance.
May transport patients and assist with walking.
Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal.
Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
Removing and reapplying anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV).
Takes and records vital signs and with repeating questionable values.
Prepares patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements.
Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens.
Delivers specimens to appropriate department as requested.
Completes documentation in EMR in accurate and timely manner.
Maintains cleanliness and order of hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves.
Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied.
Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN.
Reports lab values to RN.
Performs other duties as assigned.
