About The Position

Nursing Assistant performs routine basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Nursing Assistant will assist in maintaining clean, safe patient and unit environment; displays initiative and maintains proficiency in patient care procedures; maintains personal growth and development. Education High school graduate enrolled in a nursing program: ·at a nationally accredited school of nursing; ·seeking an associate’s of science, associate’s degree (ASN or ADN) in nursing; traditional bachelor’s or accelerated bachelor’s degree in nursing leading to licensure as a registered nurse (RN); ·AND successfully completed TWO semesters of study in nursing degree program. Application requires a letter of verification (i.e., of above requirements for the student nurse applicant) on official school of nursing letterhead from the nursing program coordinator/director. Eligibility to remain in nursing assistant position requires continued successful progression toward degree completion. Once academic nursing program requirements have been met, must obtain registered nurse (RN) licensure within six months of nursing degree completion.

  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
  • Understands the basic principles of human growth and development as well as fundamental skills of nursing.
  • Competent to successfully interact with and care for patients according to individual needs.
  • Possesses a reliable means of telephone communication with hospital.
  • Commits to working a minimum of eight (8) hours per pay period (bi-weekly) with schedule negotiated around academic requirements.
