About The Position

The Nursing Assistant provides compassionate patient care to a diverse age group of patients with a variety of medical and/or surgical conditions. This individual provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other patient care team members including the patient and family, to achieve optimal patient outcomes. All care is provided under the direction and supervision of a registered or licensed nurse. The Nursing Assistant assists with activities of daily living and delegated patient care treatments and procedures. Is responsible to assist with ambulation of patients, turning patients and promoting comfort. Samaritan Health is a comprehensive not-for-profit health system. Requirements

  • BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire
  • High school level of knowledge
  • Ability to document on medical records and patient care forms
  • Ability to understand printed health related material
  • Works effectively with others, possess tact, discretion and diplomacy
  • Ability to work under stress and complete duties sometimes with numerous interruptions
  • Must be able to write legibly and be able to document, accurately, type of care given
  • Must be able to communicate information to supervisor and co-workers
  • Must be familiar with equipment used to move patients, take vital signs and document

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience or graduated from a Nursing Assistant program preferred
  • One year or more experience as a Nurse Assistant preferable
  • Computer experience preferred
