About The Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Carries out nursing assistant procedures and tasks appropriate to scope of practice under the supervision of an RN. Participates in patient care activities by following the individual care plan and provides quality care. Performs clerical and receptionist duties such as answering the telephone, and stocking room supplies and forms. As a patient advocate, responds to and talk to individuals who have questions about BBAHC services and works to resolve issues. Assist with direct patient care such assisting with high fall-risk patients, repositioning, toileting, linen changes, vital signs, and assists with feeding patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must be fluent in English. Yup'ik preferred.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Must demonstrate good organizational skills and familiarity with general clinical office practice including maintaining filing system, word processing and general computer skills.
  • Must be able to work independently. Excellent attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g., infants/pediatric/adult/geriatric).
  • Must be able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the assigned units' policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
  • Must be fluent in English. Yup'ik preferred.
