About The Position

The Nursing Assistant plays a crucial role in patient care within nursing areas, ensuring the safe transport of patients and providing necessary observation for those requiring constant monitoring. This position involves direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed personnel, along with clerical duties to support the nursing unit's efficiency.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Previous Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience preferred.
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently with a wide variety of individuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care throughout nursing areas under the supervision of licensed personnel.
• Transport patients safely via wheelchair or stretcher.
• Provide observation services for patients requiring constant monitoring.
• Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate nursing unit operations.
• Observe, obtain, and report patient data/status to assigned RN.
• Respond to peaks in acuity and emergent situations as directed by nursing staff.
• Maintain current knowledge and certification, including BLS certification.
• Function as a preceptor to new employees.
• Demonstrate professional working relationships with colleagues.
• Complete all hospital and unit-based competencies prior to deadlines.
• Verify patient identification with two identifiers before procedures.
• Comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and universal precautions.
• Conduct patient safety rounds and communicate safety risks effectively.
• Utilize software applications required by department standards.
• Safeguard the privacy and security of patient information.
