Shift 12-hour days w/weekends Scheduled Weekly Hours 36 CGH Medical Center is launching an IDPH-approved Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program designed to make starting a healthcare career more accessible. The program offers full-time employment with all required training to safely and compassionately provide care for patients, while preparing participants for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam. POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for the continuous improvement of total quality care as it relates to providing sitter services to hospitalized patients. Responsible for providing close and/or continuous observation of patients who may be at risk for adverse events such as falls, disruption in plan of care, self-injury or harm to others. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the supervision of a registered nurse and as deemed competent, responsibilities and duties include but not limited to: Provide direct observation of patients as directed by the nursing plan of care and under the supervision of the nursing staff. Assist nursing staff to create, maintain and provide a safe environment. Report changes in the condition of patient to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members. Perform tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of CGH Medical Center. Use appropriate communication to access help when the patient is in need. Maintains patient privacy according to HIPPA and CGH policy. Communicates pertinent information regarding patient’s needs to appropriate hospital staff. Understands and demonstrates proper handwashing and basic understanding of infection control. SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS Must be at least 18 years of age; H.S. diploma or equivalent is required. Must have current BLS or obtain within 1 week of hire and maintain throughout employment at CGH. Complete MOAB training within 1 week of hire. Under the immediate supervision of the registered nurse preceptor; demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served, demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Must adhere to the position description of the Nursing Assistant Student and additional role as defined through the hiring process. Fulfill requirements of PRN (Casual Pool Employment) Policy attendance according to IDPH BNATP program guidelines. Participate actively in all theory, lab, and clinical requirements as identified by the course syllabus and IDPH.
