About The Position

The Nursing Assistant at Sharp Memorial Hospital in the 1 West Oncology unit is responsible for collaborating with the interprofessional team to deliver quality patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. This part-time position requires working night shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with a requirement of 12 hours over a 36-hour workweek. The role includes responsibilities related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, as well as direct patient care activities. The position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU-UHW, requiring union membership within 31 days of hire.

Requirements

• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent or comparable certified nursing assistant course.
• 1 Year recent experience in a geriatric setting or recent experience in an acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the interprofessional team in the delivery of quality patient/resident care under the direction of a licensed nurse.
• Ensures complete room set up for new admissions and meets and greets new patients/residents and their families.
• Orients patients/residents and families to the facility/room.
• Inventories and documents patient's personal belongings upon admission and updates as needed.
• Transfers/transports patients to activities, therapies, and other departments safely and on time.
• Provides patient care within scope of responsibilities and documents daily care per unit standards.
• Communicates changes in patients/residents' conditions and takes rapid action in life-threatening situations.
• Complies with universal precautions and hospital infection control policies.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize workload in accordance with patients' needs.
