Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician: Full-Time at 36 hours a week, rotating days and nights (12 hour shifts) Unit: 4 Pavilion/South Medical Telemetry About UPMC Shadyside: A Magnet-designated teaching hospital with ongoing research and education About the Role: Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians play a vital role in delivering high quality patient care by assisting nurses and healthcare providers in daily clinical and personal care tasks. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), collecting specimens, and ensuring a clean and safe patient environment. The Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician may also work collaboratively with nurses to perform EKGs and phlebotomy procedures. The NA/PCT must demonstrate compassion, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care while adhering to all healthcare protocols and safety standards. The starting pay for a Nursing Assistant is $19.40. Nursing Support Training: There is a three-day training program required for all candidates who are hired without specific transferable inpatient/hospital experience or a completed nursing student clinical rotation. This training is in-person 7:30a – 4:00p (Tuesday – Thursday) of the first week of employment.
