The Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving their needs in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN). This role contributes to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties vary by patient care unit/department and include personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care, safely transferring patients, taking vital signs, completing recordkeeping, recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment. The position works within job scope to meet requirements of regulatory agencies. Additionally, the Nursing Assistant organizes and implements non-nursing functions to facilitate workflow, enhance unit productivity, and provide excellent customer service. This includes performing clerical and reception duties, requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services, and assisting with scheduling. This position requires floating between the PACU and Outpatient Surgery units.
