Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant on the Oncology Unit at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. Schedule: This role is a .6 FTE (48 hours) per 2 weeks, 8-hour night shifts, with every other weekend rotation & includes holiday hours. Variable schedule. About this Unit: The Med/Surg Oncology unit has 32 beds, 16 with lifts, seeing patients 18 years & up. Oncology, Hospice, GI, Urology, Bariatric Surgical, Medical-Surgical, & Telemetry patients make up the patient populations on this unit. There are opportunities to acquire Med/Surg and Chemo Certifications. Job Responsibilities: The Nursing Assistant, as a member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Performs such care as vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, documentation of cares provided. Demonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the M Health Fairview Nursing vision. Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused on patient care. Supports holistic nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association and the nursing patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) to achieve the M Health Fairview Nursing vision. Communicates accurately and effectively with patient/family and health care team members. Reinforces patient education as directed by clinical staff. Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the inter-dependent team. Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures. Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
