About The Position

Geisinger is proud to offer a part-time Nursing Assistant a $15.75 minimum hiring rate with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, nights, and weekend shifts! Also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse! The position involves performing a wide range of clerical duties and direct patient care activities, depending on the need of the unit. The performance of these tasks in an efficient and timely manner is essential to enhance the care team's ability to provide quality care. The Nursing Assistant will provide patient care as directed by the licensed nurse, within the nursing assistant scope of practice, in meeting the multidisciplinary care plan established for each patient.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Patient care or Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
  • Desire to work with Cardiac Patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care as directed by the licensed nurse.
  • Identifies, observes and documents the physical needs of the patient.
  • Reports changes in patient condition to licensed personnel.
  • Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens.
  • Performs EKGs as assigned.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living.
  • Provides one to one patient safety watch as assigned.
  • Participates in patient safety improvement and management program.
  • Serves as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
  • Performs clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths.
  • Transcribes and processes orders according to unit standards.
  • Coordinates transportation of patients to multiple tests.
  • Communicates patient related information promptly.
  • Schedules tests, faxes consults, etc.
  • Assists in obtaining and ordering supplies.
  • Communicates with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
  • Operates and problem solves clerical equipment.
  • Assists with transporting non-controlled medications and blood products.
