About The Position

St. John's Hospital located in Maplewood, MN is growing! We're looking for a dedicated Nursing Assistant (NAR) to care for patients on our growing Float Pool Team. The starting base rate of pay for the Nursing Assistant is $22.33 Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay. This position is 60 hours per two weeks on the NIGHT shift, for 12 hour shifts, every third weekend, variable schedule.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting.
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients.
  • Conduct vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, and documentation of cares provided.
  • Report patient care data and progress of outcomes to designated RN.
  • Support the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care.
  • Communicate accurately and efficiently with patient/family and health care team members.
  • Reinforce patient education as advised by clinical staff.
  • Document patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and follow all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
