About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) is responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving their needs in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort. This role operates under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, with potential guidance from an LPN. The NA contributes to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties are varied by patient care unit/department and include personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care, safely transferring patients, taking vital signs, completing recordkeeping, recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment to promote healing. The NA must work within the job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Requirements

  • Must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within 3 months from date of employment (if not already certified).
  • BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health.
