About The Position

The Nursing Assistant participates in the nursing process during the delivery of patient care. This role involves assisting in providing nursing care to patients and collecting data for assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Nursing Assistant also participates in implementing a formal plan of care for the patient, attends unit staff meetings, and adheres to safety policies and procedures. Additionally, the Nursing Assistant is responsible for assessing personal and learning development needs, representing the hospital in the community, and consistently providing service excellence to all patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Must meet at least one of the following qualifications: a) MA Certified Nursing Assistant License, b) Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program, c) Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or National CMA, d) Successful completion of an EMT Program or EMT-B/EMT-P License, e) Successful completion of an LPN Program, f) Equivalent clinical Military experience, g) Nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing School Program and has completed Fundamentals of Nursing/Nursing 101, h) Successful completion of the Cape Cod Hospital Nursing Assistant Training program.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Successful passage of CPI training within 6 months of hire and must maintain recertification annually.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the nursing process during delivery of patient care.
  • Assists in providing nursing care to patients and collects data for assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Participates in implementing a formal plan of care for the patient under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Participates in at least four unit staff meetings per year, attends mandatory programs.
  • Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
  • Assesses personal and learning development needs.
  • Regularly updates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served.
  • Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor.
