About The Position

The NA - CSR performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The NA - CSR assists with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties. The NA - CSR assists the clinical staff by performing a variety of clerical tasks that ensure the efficiency of the unit and provide outstanding customer service to our patients and visitors. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare unit and patient room and bed to ensure patients are adequately accommodated during their hospital stay.
  • Take and record patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurements.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bed baths, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, and back rubs.
  • Provide general care including positioning patients, pre- and post-operative care, and assisting with bed pan use.
  • Prepare patients for meals, serve food, and assist with feeding when needed.
  • Transcribe physician orders accurately within specified time frames and complete necessary forms.
  • Communicate information appropriately including requests for housekeeping, linen services, and other departments.
  • Maintain patient charts and/or patient Kardex in appropriate order and ensure correct labeling.
  • Receive, place, and transfer phone calls accurately and communicate messages efficiently.
  • Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
  • Answer patient call lights expediently and assist with personal hygiene and daily living activities.
  • Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for patients.
  • Clean rooms and equipment, prepare for sterilization and disinfection, and report damaged equipment.
  • Participate in unit quality assurance programs to enhance quality and efficiency of services.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests as directed by a Registered Nurse.
  • Collect patient specimens and transport them to the lab when necessary.
  • Run inter-departmental errands for nursing personnel in a professional manner.
  • Report any unusual incidents or changes in patient condition to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete other duties as assigned or requested.
