About The Position

4EF is a high-acuity Medical/Telemetry unit with a specialized respiratory focus. We are the only non‑ICU unit in the system that provides care for ventilated patients. While respiratory care is central to our work, the unit supports a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions, including: COPD Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Diabetic ulcers Cellulitis Pneumonia Patients on 4EF require a high level of attention—just below ICU-level care—making this an excellent environment for CNAs who want to expand their clinical skills and work on a fast-paced, team-centered unit.

Requirements

  • Current CNA certification
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfort working with high-acuity patients
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach
  • Interest in respiratory or telemetry care (training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations).
  • Assist patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and overall hygiene.
  • Promote safe mobility through ambulation and repositioning.
  • Assist with feeding, including supporting patients with swallowing difficulties.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked patient environment.
  • Document care accurately and communicate observations or concerns to the nursing team.
  • Provide oral care every 2 hours for tracheostomy and ventilated patients.
  • Perform patient turns every 2 hours for high-risk or immobile patients.
  • Use transfer and mobility equipment such as ceiling lifts, Hoyer lifts, and Sara Stedy devices.
  • Perform delegated tasks from RNs, which may include: Bladder scans CBI (Continuous Bladder Irrigation) assistance Post-operative vital signs Telemetry management Specimen collection
