About The Position

The Nursing Assistant position at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital involves providing basic, quality patient-focused care in a clinical setting under the daily direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The role requires performing delegated tasks that support the environment of patient care, ensuring that patients and their families are treated with dignity and respect. The position is part-time, scheduled for 24 hours a week, primarily during night shifts, and includes rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
  • Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation.
  • Measures and documents vital signs and other patient data as requested.
  • Documents accurately in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Participates in admission, transfer, and discharge processes under supervision of RN.
  • Ensures patient call light is always in reach and answers call-lights promptly.
  • Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
  • Maintains competency as required and completes various errands as directed.
  • Cleans equipment and work areas.
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties.
  • Maintains skin integrity and ensures special patient supplies are provided.
  • Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention.
