Requirements

• Completion of a medical assistant training program can substitute for required experience on a month-for-month basis.
• Graduation from an accredited Emergency Medical Technician Program can substitute for required experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly with veterans or elderly patients.
• Additional certifications in CPR, First Aid, or infection control.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Assist with the admission documentation of new patients.
• Provide direct care to patients, including ambulating, feeding, bathing, and positioning.
• Sterilize equipment and supplies as needed.
• Distribute clean linen and manage patients' clothing.
• Collect, label, and transport laboratory specimens as assigned.
• Observe and report any changes in patients' conditions to the charge nurse.
• Transport patients to various locations for examinations or recreational activities.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms and change bed linens.
• Perform basic nursing procedures as directed by a professional nurse.
