About The Position

The position involves assisting in providing patient care based on an individualized plan for each patient. The role includes performing basic nursing activities as delegated, conducting data collection, monitoring, and documenting patient status while ensuring confidentiality of all patient information. Safe patient handling is a priority, and the individual will inform the RN of activities performed, observations of patients, and any changes in patient status. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a neat and clean patient environment.

Requirements

• Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care tech program.
• No experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Current or former South Carolina CNA certification as proof of completed state-required training at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance.
• May transport patients and assist with walking.
• Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
• Provides patient care as delegated by the RN, including non-sterile soaks, application of non-sterile simple dressings, and perineal care.
• Performs data collection including vital signs, fluid intake and output, and basic and sterile specimen collection.
• Properly documents and maintains data on medical records and informs RN of activities performed, observations of patients, and changes in patient status.
• Runs errands, answers telephone, and responds to call lights.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN and reports lab values to RN.
• Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
