About The Position

The nurse assistant provides care to adult and geriatric patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. This care focuses on personal hygiene, nutritional needs, and activities of daily living. This position will support the skilled nursing unit.

Requirements

• Registered on State of Iowa Nurse Aide registry listing as 'Active' or eligible.
• Currently enrolled in an A.D.N., BSN program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program.
• First year completion of nursing courses in BSN.
• Graduate of an A.D.N., BSN or LPN program.
• Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
• Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and education needs and supports the patient's plan of care throughout patient's stay.
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to the Registered Nurse and multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Documents in the electronic/paper medical record in an accurate/timely manner.
• Provides for patient comfort, safety, and protects dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Communicates with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic, and professional manner.
• Accepts assignments willingly.
