About The Position

The Nursing Assistant position in the 2E Oncology PCU at Sharp Grossmont Hospital involves collaborating with the interprofessional team to deliver quality patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. The role requires consideration of age-specific needs and contributes to overall unit functions. The position is full-time, with day shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM, and includes weekend requirements every other week. The hourly pay range is between $24.000 and $29.530, and the position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU-UHW.

Requirements

• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a certified nursing assistant course.
• 1 year of recent experience in a geriatric setting or acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

• Ensures complete room set up for new admissions including necessary supplies.
• Meets and greets new patients and family members upon admission.
• Orients patients and families to the facility and room.
• Inventories and documents patient's personal belongings upon admission.
• Transfers patients to activities, therapies, and other departments safely.
• Enters orders related to equipment, supplies, and dietary needs as directed by RN.
• Documents daily care of patients per unit standards.
• Communicates changes in patients' conditions to the licensed nurse.
• Complies with universal precautions and hospital infection control policies.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize workload according to patient needs.
