About The Position

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Nursing Assistant in the Inpatient Unit of the Clinical Trials Unit. Requirements

  • Nursing Assistant 1 Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.
  • Nursing Assistant 2 Two years of experience in patient care; OR Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate or graduation from an Emergency Medical Technician Program plus one year and six months of experience in patient care; OR Completion of an accredited registered or practical nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties such as mopping, changing linens, emptying trash, dusting, sweeping, laundry, stocking patient rooms, maintaining supplies, collects and distributes gowns to necessary units, delivers bio-hazard material to the designated areas and in the specified containers.
  • Assists in admissions and discharge of subjects.
  • Assists with monitoring food intake and reports deficiencies.
  • Observes subject physical and mental well-being and reports changes as needed
  • Maintains unit supplies, par levels, and stocks when necessary.
  • Assists in day-to-day operation of the unit by keeping supplies updated and ordered, equipment in good working order, general housekeeping, and any other activities to enhance workflow.
  • Performs errands as needed to meet unit/patient needs.
  • Works effectively with others and assists other staff members without prompting.
  • Completes other assigned duties as assigned.
