About The Position

IMC (ICU Intermediate) is a high-energy unit that promotes a positive culture and work environment with flexible scheduling; we strive to maintain a competitive nurse to patient ratio. Nurses on this unit are teamwork oriented and have excellent support staff which include nursing assistants, telemetry technicians and unit secretaries. We care for a diverse patient population including, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiac, and neuro illnesses. It is common to have patients on cardiac drips, cardiac catheterization patients and COPD/pneumonia/CHF patients. IMC staff meet once a month for unit council to address staff concerns and serve as a voice for the unit. Unit council also plans activities which include unit outings, in house activities and volunteer opportunities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), Required by completion of Orientation.

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital or nursing home experience, Preferred.
• Current CNA certification, Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care.
• Helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
• Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment.
• Contributes to effective communication related to patient care and unit operations.
• Facilitates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients on and off unit.
