About The Position

Overview Faculty in the TUC School of Nursing (SON) are charged with planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing curricula and defining and measuring student learning outcomes. Faculty engage in a collaborative process as they develop policies and procedures for the SON; they maintain currency in their professional field and model excellence in instruction and assessment of learning. As a member of the larger campus, faculty are engaged in service at the School, College, and University level. They are engaged members of their professional and geographic community and participate in scholarly activities relevant to their faculty responsibilities and professional discipline. Responsibilities Function within the organizing framework of the School of Nursing in didactic and clinical education. Function as a liaison for the academic environment and the clinical learning environment and arrange learning experiences to meet the competencies for the program. Advise assigned students regarding clinical competencies and criteria for meeting evaluation standards. Participate in School, University, and student-centered committee meetings and fulfill assigned responsibilities related to the students. Participate in health-related activities in the community and at Touro. Assume responsibility for assigned teaching/clinical load, including didactic coursework and clinical components. Maintain active certification/licensing in professional role. Support and participate in the development of learning objectives, course syllabi, assignments and evaluation strategies for assigned courses. Utilize innovative learning technologies for traditional, blended, and online course delivery for assigned courses. Function in a clinical preceptor role for the assigned students Documentation in appropriate clinical logging and tracking systems Supporting final grade documentation when appropriate Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Master's or higher degree in Nursing from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing role. Candidate must be licensed in the State of California by date of application.
  • Community Health Nursing content, both clinical and didactic, in a bachelor's or master's program.
  • Facilitate learning through innovative teaching/learning strategies
  • Facilitate learner development and socialization
  • Use assessment and evaluation strategies
  • Participate in curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes
  • Pursue continuous quality improvement in the nurse educator role
  • Demonstrate quality care as a Nurse/NP preceptor/clinical faculty
  • Demonstrate interest in scholarship guidance and review
  • Function well within the educational environment
  • Extensive Use of Computers
  • Extensive time sitting and standing
  • Able to lift up to 5 lbs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree preferred or current enrollment in a DNP program
  • Prefer at least one year of recent clinical/teaching experience in the nursing specialty area to which assigned
  • Preferred experience in 1 or more clinical settings (ie, public health, safety net, rural areas, vulnerable populations)
