About The Position

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) is seeking part-time Nursery Technicians with a primary duty of assisting other nursery staff with duties related to growing and harvesting conservation seedlings. These positions are located in Goldsby, Oklahoma and Idabel, Oklahoma. The Nursery Technician is a temporary, entry-level position that may work up to 40 hours per week depending on the season and tasks needed. The term of employment is up to 999 hours per calendar year and is dependent upon weather conditions, statutory requirements, time of year, scheduled work load, and other climatic and biological factors. This role does not require any prior job experience.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver License may be required for some Nursery Technician positions

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with planting and harvesting seedlings
  • Collecting and preparing seed for planting
  • Weeding around seedlings in the field
  • Maintaining irrigation lines
  • Maintaining fields with a mower, brush hog and weed eater
  • Cleaning and maintaining buildings and trucks
  • Processing seedlings during harvest season
  • Counting/tying seedlings in bundles to prepare for shipping
  • Day-to-day general operating procedures
