About The Position

Our Nursery program is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for our faculty & staff children ages 0-3. For the second half of the 2025-2026 school year, South City Community School will serve a total of five (5) faculty & staff children ranging in age from 2 months to 2 years on Fridays. The ideal candidate will work alongside a full time Nursery staff. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations.

Requirements

  • Valid CPR and first-aid certifications (SCCS will provide class onsite if needed)
  • Enthusiasm for working with children in an after school or recreational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, such as standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Staff expected to be onsite and ready to accept children no later than 8:00am
  • Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary
  • Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day
  • Preparing meals and snacks for the kids
  • Organizing activities and providing a safe and fun environment
  • Assisting other staff member(s) in keeping a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day
  • Keeping daily record of each child's diaper/restroom usage, food and nap schedule plus any problems that may occur to report to parents each day
  • Maintaining contact with the children's parents and contacting them in the case of an emergency
  • Dependable
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians
  • Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
  • Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time
