  • Produces designs for 'Plant Your Own', if applicable.
  • Understands and applies landscape design techniques and proper use of plant materials.
  • Operates and maintains equipment such as tow motors and loaders in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Assigns/prioritizes worker duties, schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations as needed or in the absence of the Manager.
  • Conducts training meetings.
  • Coordinates the maintenance, repair and employee training regarding all equipment.
  • Assists with regularly scheduled departmental inventories.
  • Trains workers in store policies, departmental procedures, and job duties.
  • Communicates with Buyers regarding merchandising, new product implementation and appropriate pricing.
  • Functions as a working manager, performing all tasks necessary to assure the smooth operation of the division.
  • Has knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to assist with the ordering of supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
  • Maintains the smooth operation of the department in the absence of staff or manager.
  • Communicates performance and training problems to the department manager.
  • Prior nursery/managerial experience preferred.
  • A broad base knowledge of plant materials and diagnostic ability of plant problems.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to successfully complete DOT physical and Drug Test as required according to DOT regulations.
  • Ability to work an average of 40-45 hours a week and adjust schedule according to work load.
  • Valid Class 'C' PA Drivers license.
  • Willingness to transfer to any SKH location, as needed.
