About The Position

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Youth Development, the Nursery Attendant is responsible for responding to needs in the nursery and ensure s the safety of all participants. Delivers excellent customer service to all members, guests , and program participants. The Nursery Attendant is responsible for managing the functions of the program in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff and Board of Directors. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent .
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with children and adults .
  • Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous childcare or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain s the safety of each child in the nursery ; ensure s the parent/guardian remains in the facility during the duration of the nursery stay
  • Greet s everyone as they enter the nursery; provide s excellent service to members, guests , and program participants in the facility
  • Maintain s awareness of safety procedures and policies
  • Ensure s that each parent/guardian signs the nursery policy and is aware of the rules
  • Keep s accurate attendance records with arrival and departure times.
  • Ensure s that children arrive and depart with a parent/guardian
  • Supervise s infants, toddlers , and children.
  • Change s diapers /gives bottles , if necessary, with parents written consent.
  • Keep s the nursery equipment and play area clean.
  • Recognize s that the success of the YMCA depends on all staff working together and being a team player means willingness to assist other staff members in doing whatever is requi red to make the YMCA successful.
