About The Position

The Nursery Attendant at the YMCA of Greater Dayton is responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable nursery experience for children while their parents participate in activities at the YMCA. This role emphasizes the importance of child welfare, effective communication, and creating a nurturing environment for children.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months or more of related childcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the welfare and safety of children attending the nursery program.
• Implement set standards and guidelines for nursery operations.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for children.
• Communicate effectively with members, parents, and staff.
• Display enthusiasm and engage positively with children.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of nursery activities.
• Attend all required trainings and professional development sessions.
• Serve as a positive role model for children and staff.
• Build relationships with members and provide excellent member service.
• Maintain facilities through proper use and cleaning procedures.
• Follow appropriate safety guidelines and inspect equipment for safety hazards.
• Communicate any concerns, needed repairs, or incidents to the direct supervisor.
• Proactively solve problems and suggest improvements for the facility and equipment.
