About The Position

Each position employed with CYO Camps helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: To be the health manager for the camp during a camp session; supervise health and cleanliness standards; work with camp director and staff; and help provide adequate physical health conditions for campers and staff.

Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
  • A good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, as well as in moral, ethical and spiritual behavior
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Washington state.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the youth.
  • Experience working in health care (childhood healthcare preferred).
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of CYO.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have current CPR/First Aid certification, and Licensed in Washington State as a registered nurse (or other appropriate training as approved by the camp physician)
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and live on site in rustic facilities while programs are in session.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure each staff member and camper has on file a heath history form, as required.
  • Health screen upon arrival-campers and staff
  • Conduct inventory of supplies and report needs to the camp director ensuring timely arrival of supplies.
  • Follow appropriate medical routines including record keeping in the daily medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved standing orders.
  • Coordinate coverage of the health center.
  • Check and issue first-aid kits.
  • Monitor staff in regards to health and safety, CPR, first aid, and use of universal precautions for infection control.
  • Keep accident/incident reports that can be used for risk-management assessment.
  • Monitor health of all staff.
  • Respond and assess emergency situations with the help of the camp director team.
  • Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest modifications that would create better health conditions in camp.
