Nurse Technician-Hematology/Oncology
About The Position
The nurse technician performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The designated tasks are those which have been taught in the academic programs and/or orientation, and where the individual has demonstrated competence to a designated RN. The functions are those limited by law to unlicensed personnel. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned in accordance with the state’s Nurse Practice Act. Nurse Technicians hired into Hematology/Oncology specific areas will care for patients including (but not limited to) adult patients with solid tumors, those undergoing autologous or allogeneic bone marrow transplants or peripheral blood stem cell transplants, patients with lymphoma, leukemic, multiple myeloma, and various hematopoietic disorders. Patients may be hospitalized during various stages of their wellness/illness including from initial diagnosis through active treatment, recovery, or death.
