About The Position

MultiCare offers a Nurse Tech Program in the Yakima Region, a paid position designed to support and accelerate skills learned in nursing school. Candidates will earn a wage while working as a Nurse Tech, with career planning and opportunities to experience various work settings through rotations in different hospital areas based on interest and unit availability. Educational opportunities are provided to advance career paths. Upon graduation, candidates are encouraged to apply to the MultiCare RN Transition to Practice Residency program. This is a Per-diem/Oncall, non-benefit eligible, union position, requiring one shift per week and offering 6, 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts based on availability. The Nursing Technician is a student enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse program who has completed at least one academic term with a clinical component, or an individual who has completed the Registered Nurse course of study and is awaiting NCLEX exam results. This entry-level nursing position involves providing direct patient care, applying current health concepts, and performing routine duties to the level of academic competence achieved in their educational program(s), all under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse. The role requires knowledge, judgment, and skill based on biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a student in accredited school preparing persons to practice as a Registered Nurse and completed at least one academic term which included a clinical component /OR Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing awaiting results of licensing exam for Registered Nurse, but no longer than 30 days past graduation
  • Documentation of current clinical competencies from completed Nursing School course work
  • Current State of Washington Nursing Technician Registered credential
  • Current Health Care Provider level CPR certification (or BLS certification)

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct patient care applying current health concepts and performing routine duties to the level of academic competence accomplished in the individual’s educational program(s) under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Contribute to the assigned unit nursing team, functioning as a member of the unit
  • Remain abreast of current trends/information in nursing and applies this knowledge/ information to practice
  • Attend required unit meetings/classes
  • Apply knowledge, judgment, and skills as based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences
