About The Position

These positions are for nursing students graduating in spring 2027 or later. Unofficial transcripts should be provided with the application. The 6NE MPCU is a generalized medical progressive care unit that handles a broad variety of disease processes from the general medical population, specializing in cardiac, respiratory, renal (CAPD), GI, sepsis, and other generalized conditions requiring frequent and closer observation by nursing staff. Patients are continuously monitored for cardiac arrhythmias, SpO2 saturations, BP, and respiratory status. Approximately 25% of patients require high-flow, Bipap, or CPAP for respiratory support. The unit can administer and monitor various vasopressors and other continuous drips that necessitate close vital sign monitoring. Staff must obtain ACLS certification within 6 months of hire. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and attending an accredited school of registered nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) or Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Program).
  • ADN graduates will be required to sign a BSN completion agreement upon hire/placement in a graduate nurse position.
  • Required RN from another state awaiting Michigan Licensure (or) Graduate Nurse from accredited school of nursing awaiting retake of NCLEX or awaiting results of the last exam.
  • Transcripts must be provided at the time of hire and may be requested for review periodically.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Evidence of successful completion of adult medical-surgical rotations – theory and clinical.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Or ARC American Red Cross, Upon Hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various nursing care tasks and treatments on assigned patients under the supervision of a Nurse and following hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs routine bedside nursing activities including bathing and personal grooming of patients.
  • Ambulates, moves, and turns patients.
  • Assists patients with bedpans or urinary devices.
  • Makes patient beds and cares for personal property.
  • Assists in performing additional nursing procedures such as catheterizations, suctioning, irrigating colostomies, applying restraints, giving enemas, douches, sitz baths, or pericare.
