About The Position

The Nurse Technician performs patient care, nursing tasks, and clerical duties, including acting as a unit receptionist and providing information to patients, families, visitors, and staff. The Nurse Tech also assists the Licensed Nurse as needed. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of a North Carolina State Approved Nurse Aide I course
  • BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, maintain a safe environment, and assist with activities of daily living.
  • Relay messages, answer phones, and maintain records.
  • Record vital signs, fluid intake/output, and patient data. Collect specimens.
  • Prepare, assist, and document patient meals.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges. Provide patient mobility support.
  • Maintain unit cleanliness, manage supplies and equipment, and inspect patient charts.
  • Update, assemble, and maintain patient charts. Assist with record requests.
  • Respond to call lights promptly.
  • Answer phones professionally and direct physician calls to nurses.
  • Provide excellent customer service, greet visitors, and assist with patient needs.
  • Assess unit supply needs, maintain inventory, and deliver requisitions and specimens.
  • Assist with patient care procedures, orientation, and unit coordination.
  • Attend unit meetings and continuing education programs.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to department rules and standards.
  • Perform assigned tasks as directed by management.
