The 2100 Clinical Decision Unit is a fast-paced unit with a high patient turnover rate (less than 24 hours) located on the hospital’s cardiac telemetry floor. This unit treats major diagnoses, such as chest pain, syncope, and dizziness. As a Nurse Technician in this unit, you will assist with direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) varying shifts. You must work 64 hours in the summer months.

Requirements

• Nursing student in good standing in an accredited nursing school program OR unlicensed graduate of an accredited nursing school program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
• Maintain competencies specific to patient population served
• Satisfactorily complete hospital orientation

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
• Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to RN.
• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean & orderly.
• Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
