About The Position

At New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist, certified nurse technicians thrive at the bedside as invaluable care providers. Together, we serve as critical points of contact for patients and their families. This role involves partnering with Registered Nurses to draw blood, monitor blood pressure and temperature of patients, and ensure the delivery of meals and safe transport. Nurse technicians are expected to infuse energy and hospitality into a patient's day, provide comfort and caring, and keep fast-paced environments running smoothly. They provide compassionate patient focus and perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse, aiming to improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment. Responsibilities also include measuring and recording temperatures, pulses, respiration, and blood pressure. This position requires floating to all units in the hospital, such as Med-Surg, Critical Care, Psychiatry, and the Emergency Department, or wherever needed. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or relevant work experience
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Technician/Patient Care Technician Program or Nursing Assistant, EKG, and Phlebotomy Program or Medical Assistant Program
  • Nurse Technician/ Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant, EKG, and Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certificate
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one-year experience as Nurse Technician, Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting
