About The Position

7 North is a 39-bed Medical Surgical GI/GU unit located in Butterworth Hospital, known for its outstanding teamwork and welcoming atmosphere. This unit offers continuous learning and growth opportunities due to its diverse patient population, specializing in urology and surgical oncology post-operative patients, as well as those with gastrointestinal diagnoses. The team excels in managing nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, urologic care, and the care of wounds, ostomies, tubes, and drains. Examples of surgeries that may take place on 7 North include Nephrectomy, Whipple, Cholecystectomy, Pancreactectomy, and kidney donor procedures. It is the flagship hospital for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals. The Nurse Tech acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. They perform basic skills per department guidelines and communicate observations to members of the health care team. They collect and report physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. The role ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.

Requirements

• Hight School Diploma or equivalent Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
• Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
• Taking vitals
• Checking blood sugars
• Bed bathing
• Ambulating
• Wound care
• Catheterization
• Acting as a safety attendant for patients.
• Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
