About The Position
Unit 6 Meijer Heart Center (6 Heart) is a 46-bed cardiac and vascular progressive/stepdown unit at the Meijer Heart Center. The primary patient population served includes patients with various cardiac and vascular diseases requiring medical, procedural, or surgical interventions, such as acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, post-percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral artery disease, renal artery disease, aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, and heart rhythm disorders. Nurse Techs on this unit gain an understanding of the cardiac and vascular system and its processes to deliver excellent care within this specialty. The specialty includes care for post-procedure and post-surgery patients, including cardiac and peripheral stents, sheath management, revascularization procedures and surgeries, Mitra clip, Watchman procedure, endovascular aneurysm repair, and mechanical embolectomy for pulmonary embolism.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

- Ensuring that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner
- Acting as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care within clinics alongside RN’s/Providers
- Performing basic skills per department guidelines
- Communicating observations to members of the health care team
- Collecting and reporting physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider
