About The Position

The Nurse Tech position at MU Health Care is a part-time role focused on providing essential support to nursing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care. The individual will assist with patient transfers, meal deliveries, and daily hygiene tasks, while also playing a key role in training new staff. This position is vital for maintaining an organized and efficient environment, contributing to the overall patient-centered approach of the healthcare facility.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing course within 180 days; or
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); or
  • Experience with direct patient care such as a medical assistant, nursing assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician in the past three (3) years; or
  • Completion within the last three (3) years, or will complete within 180 days, an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training program; or
  • Nursing licensure candidate who was unsuccessful on the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or
  • Completion of a nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff in transferring patients between beds, stretchers, or wheelchairs.
  • Pickup and deliver patient meal trays, and assist with patient feeding as directed.
  • Organize workload and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a clutter-free environment.
  • Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the Care Team Associate role.
  • Perform patient position changes and daily hygiene care.
  • Conduct simple non-sterile dressing changes and finger stick glucose checks.
  • May perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples and maintain quality control checks.
  • Deliver and retrieve lab specimens and supplies as requested.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and address patient needs using positive guest relations skills.
  • Document patient vital signs, intake, output, height, and weight as directed.

Benefits

  • Base Pay Range: $19.09/hr
  • Additional $2.00 per hour for weekend shifts
  • Additional $2.00 per hour for night or evening shifts
