About The Position
About the unit The Med Surg Unit is a 29 bed unit with an attached 7 bed ICU. Adult patients have a variety of diagnosis. Most patients are medical cases. We also see surgical cases including bariatric, total joint, abdominal, podiatry, and more. Scope of work Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Cert required within 90 days
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
- Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.
- Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior.
- Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
