About The Position

The Med Surg unit at Butterworth Hospital specializes in providing inpatient bedside care primarily for the General Medical Patient Population. This patient group encompasses a wide array of diagnoses, including but not limited to pneumonia, cellulitis, kidney failure, hyperglycemia, diabetic issues, ulcers, confused elderly patients, alcohol abuse, acute/chronic kidney injury, sepsis, and the psychiatric population. Butterworth Hospital, situated in the heart of Grand Rapids, is a nationally recognized institution lauded for its patient quality and safety, and stands as the regional leader among full-service hospitals. Established in 1873, it has cultivated a reputation for excellence across care, diagnostics, treatment, prevention, and education, serving as the flagship hospital for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals. The Nurse Tech role involves a mandatory orientation period consisting of 3-4 weekdays of classroom instruction with Nurse Educators, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Responsibilities

• acting as a safety attendant for patients
• Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider
• Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team
